The amusing stat that ties Kyogo Furuhashi and Scott Brown together at Celtic

When it comes to playing styles at Celtic, Scott Brown and Kyogo Furuhashi could hardly be more different.

While one was a legendary midfielder who’s strengths were tackling and driving the team forward, the other is a goalscorer who excels in the final third.

Brown symbolises a brilliant trophy-winning Celtic before Ange Postecoglou, while Kyogo is very much the headline name since the Aussie has been in Scotland.

Strangely enough, they both had/have the number 8 on the back of their jersey when doing great things for Celtic.

They each fit the number perfectly, despite being totally different kinds of player.

When doing a little bit of research earlier in the week, it was amusing to look at the pair’s scoring records at Celtic.

While Kyogo has netted goals effectively from his arrival in the country, Brown’s scoring return wasn’t quite as regular.

It is therefore a surprise to find out that, at this current point, both players have scored the exact same number of goals for Celtic.

46 is the number. And yes, we can’t believe Brown managed that many in a Celtic shirt either. But it’s true. (transfermarkt.co.uk)

Kyogo’s 46 have come in 549 fewer games, to be fair to him.

Brown is all too aware of his no.8 successor, and spoke about it when up at Lennoxtown earlier in the week.

Brown: “To be honest, there is no better person that could steal my number from me.

“It goes from one way to another. I certainly wouldn’t have helped anyone up.

“Kyogo’s willing to do it, which shows you there is no right or wrong way to play football and win.” (Scottish Sun)

Something tells me the pair won’t be level on the goal front for too long.

In other news, Celtic games will be shown in South Korea from April
