The UEFA Champions League social media team have anticipated the arrival of Celtic in next season’s competition with a congratulatory tweet to their 41 million followers today.
Ange Postecoglou’s Bhoys secured the Scottish Premiership title at Tannadice last night. The silverware is a fine prize enough but it also ensures automatic entry into the group stages of the Champions League next term.
On the official tournament account today, there was a reminder of just how dominant Celtic have been in Scotland over the last 11 years.
Celtic haven’t participated in the group stages of the big European competition since 2017/18 when Brendan Rodgers and his team finished third in a group containing Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Anderlecht.
It will also be the first summer that Celtic haven’t had a European qualifier of any kind since 2008.
Not only will there be massive glamour ties where Postecoglou’s Bhoys can test themselves against elite competition, but there’s also a lot of cash on the way to the club.

Conservative estimates suggest at least £30m is on the way to the Bhoys as a result of participation in the tournament, which should greatly boost Ange’s recruitment options this summer.
So while we’re all enjoying the festivities of this week, just remember, it’s only the start.
Celtic are going back to the big time and it’s sure to be quite the thrill ride!
