Vakoun Bayo made his Celtic reserves debut in a 4-1 trouncing of Falkirk at Cappielow.
The Ivorian’s name wasn’t the most surprising on the team sheet with Dorus de Vries, Marvin Compper and Scott Allan also making appearances.
Whereas, on the opposition line-up, former Hoops keeper Leo Fasan started.
Bayo doesn’t steal the show on debut
The 22-year-old only lasted 62 minutes before coming off without scoring.
He had a bright first half but wasn’t as effective after the interval and was replaced by Leo Mazis.
The stars of the show were other attackers Jack Aitchison and Armstrong Okoflex who scored two goals each.
The Scotsman levelled the game after the Hoops went behind early on while the Irishman gave the reserves the lead.
Aitchison increased Celtic’s lead further and Okoflex wrapped up the scoring from the penalty spot.
The surprise figures of Compper, Allan and de Vries got through the game without any struggles with the keeper putting in a stellar performance.
Why were omitted trio playing for the reserves?
Eyebrows were raised when the three shock names appeared on the team sheet.
Compper only has one short first team appearance to his name and it has been months since de Vries last played for the club.
Allan is joining Hibernian in the summer having signed a pre-contract with the Edinburgh club in January.
The Hoops couldn’t get rid of any of the above players despite Brendan Rodgers not wanting to stockpile players.
Nevertheless, they are being put to somewhat good use to help the toiling reserve side climb the league table.
It’s also good news to see Bayo finally wearing the Hoops and getting a taste of Scottish football.
He was due to make a first team appearance during the week but a late injury saw to it that he didn’t.
Fingers crossed his next bow for the Hoops will be for Rodgers’ side.
