Celtic’s chances of reaching next month’s Scottish Cup final will be much improved if they keep quiet in-form Aberdeen striker Sam Cosgrove in Sunday’s Scottish Cup semi-final.
Cosgrove is undeniably one of the form players in Scotland, he has scored 20 goals so far this season. Therefore, he is the man that Celtic will need to keep a close eye on.
A special plan
It will be interesting to see if Neil Lennon comes up with a special plan to keep Cosgrove out of the game. Perhaps a man-marking job would work.
Kristoffer Ajer could play the role, especially if Celtic deicide to play three at the back. Neil Lennon played three at the back in the recent 0-0 draw with Livingston, so perhaps it is something that he has considered.
Must take chances
What Celtic do on the day will be just as important as keeping Cosgrove quiet. The Hoops must take some of the chances they have missed in recent weeks.
Neil Lennon knows what rests on this game. Defeat ends the chance of completing the historic third successive domestic treble. It also possibly ends his chance of getting the Celtic job on a permanent basis. That is why he will be telling the players how important it is to keep Cosgrove quiet, and find the back of the net.
Should the Hoops take their chances and manage to keep Cosgrove quiet it will be a good day at Hampden Park for the Celtic support.
