Jeremy Toljan has only played 135 minutes for Celtic, but already he looks to be a class act.

The January loan signing from Borussia Dortmund made his debut in the 2-0 win over St Johnstone and looked very assured.

He played even better in the 2-0 win over Hibernian, his first full start for the Hoops. His pass set up Ryan Christie who opened the scoring in the game.

Toljan looks composed in defence and has also looked good going forward. It is early days for the player but already he looks to be a great addition to the squad.

The big question now though, is will he be at Celtic next season? The club have been looking for a replacement for Mikael Lustig for a long time. They won’t want him leaving the club after only six months.

Brendan Rodgers and the Hoops board must find a way to persuade Toljan that Celtic are the club for him. It might not be as difficult as some might think.

Toljan wasn’t playing for Dortmund before the Hoops swooped in to sign him. His career had stagnated and Celtic have rescued it.

That shows how much faith that Celtic had in Toljan that he would be a success. That has certainly been the case so far.

If Toljan is thankful to Celtic for saving his career then perhaps he will do the right thing and sign a long-term deal with the Hoops. But only time will tell.
