The parallels are there between a Celtic transfer 25 years ago and one which could take place this summer.
Celtic splashed out big money in 1994 to sign Motherwell midfielder Phil O’Donnell. The Hoops spent £1.75 million on the player, which is still the highest fee the Fir Park club have received for a player.
O’Donnell went on to have a good career with the Hoops. He won the Scottish Cup and a league title in a four-year spell with the Hoops.

The parallels are there
The parallels are there between the O’Donnell deal and any deal that will be made for current Motherwell midfielder David Turnbull.
Should the Hoops sign Turnbull, it would take a record fee, as Motherwell want £3 million for the player. Turnbull and O’Donnell are similar players, both goalscoring midfielders.

There could be a doubt about the player joining Celtic though. The Hoops reportedly aren’t happy that their interest in the player was made public.
More than welcome addition to squad

However, when you consider that he has scored so many goals from midfield you have to say that he would be a more than welcome addition to the Celtic squad.
It remains to be seen if Turnbull will join Celtic. He is one of the most exiting players to come out of Scotland in a long time, so it is no surprise that teams are interested in him.
Hopefully come next season he will be displaying those talents in a Celtic strip.
