Sunday may have been all about the new Dembele on the scene but an old fans favourite wasn’t to go unnoticed either. After Karamoko made his first team debut, former Hoops star Moussa also entered the Paradise pitch as he collected another league winners medal.
The French youth cap may only have started one league match for Celtic before moving to Lyon earlier this season, but he still wanted to be involved in the party. That says a lot about him.
Forgive and forget
The forward, who netted 51 goals in two seasons, left under a cloud of smoke last summer. Dembele departed for France following a clear falling out with Brendan Rodgers and claims of dishonesty from both parties.
The Celtic fans took their manager’s side originally but have since reconsidered given the way Rodgers departed the club.
Dembele was a wonderful Celtic player who routinely scored in the biggest European and domestic matches so it was lovely to see him welcomed back to the club with open arms.
The forward didn’t have to come back to Celtic Park. He’s just netted 20 goals in his first season at Lyon and could have been enjoying some well earned rest. The fact he returned to the club to celebrate a title he played little part in shows that he is Celtic at heart.
Hopefully he is remembered for his time at the club and not the way it ended.
