Right-back is turning into a real problem position for Celtic as the season comes to an end. The Hoops have two games left this season. You can’t honestly know who will be playing at right-back in those games.

Mikael Lustig has gone off injured in his last two appearances for the Hoops. Despite this, the Daily Record have reported that he could be fit for the Scottish Cup Final.

The other main right-back, Jeremy Toljan, has disappointed when been selected and lost his place in the first-team to Lustig.

That could pave the way for Anthony Ralston to come in from the cold and win a place in the Scottish Cup Final team.

Ralston seems to have been a forgotten man at Celtic this season, making only four appearances. Significantly though, he was on the bench for the recent 2-0 loss to Rangers.

In the manager’s thoughts

That must mean he is in Neil Lennon’s thoughts. Therefore, it would not be much of a shock to see Ralston get a start in the last league game of the season against Hearts on Sunday.

Should he turn in a good performance in that game, he should retain his place in the side for the cup final. It would make more sense than playing an injured Lustig or Toljan, who is out of form.

Ralston deserves this chance. Let’s hope Neil Lennon gives it to him.
