It is fair to say that despite being a Celtic legend, Neil Lennon wasn’t at the top of everyone’s list when it came to appointing the new Hoops manager.

However, it seems that Celtic fans are backing the manager is his first competitive game of the new season.

The Celtic Twitter account recently revealed that Wednesday’s Champions League second leg tie against Sarajevo is sold out.

That is a great display of commitment by the Celtic support. Particularly when you consider that the Hoops are 3-1 up from the first leg. The Hoops in pole position to make the second round of the qualifiers.

The game may have been included on fans’ season tickets. However, the fact that every other ticket has been sold is a good sign.

Hoops will need similar level of support going forward

Celtic will need a similar level of support in every round of the qualifiers if they are to reach the group stage proper of the competition.

The Hoops should have enough to make it through against Sarajevo. When it comes to the play-off round though – should Celtic get there – the support of the fans will be very important.

European nights have often brought out the best in the Celtic support. This season will be no different. The fans will need to help the Hoops overcome the odds and reach the group stages.
