Agent claims Celtic have made offer for international attacking midfielder Afsha
Celtic have made an offer to sign Egyptian international Mohamed Magdy, his agent has told The Scottish Sun.
As we approach the end of the transfer window, no doubt many left-field transfer rumours will emerge over the next 24 hours.
This one has come out of the blue.
Agent Abdel Rahman Ismail is quoted by The Scottish Sun as saying: “Mohamed has an offer from Celtic and one from a club in Saudi Arabia.
“It’s up to Al-Ahly to accept or reject the offers.”
Also known by his nickname Afsha, the 24-year-old only signed for Al-Ahly last year for £900,000 the paper reports.
This could be a case of an agent trying to get his player’s name into media reports, but it is an intriguing link.
Celtic are not reported to have been on the hunt for a creative central attacking midfielder this summer.
That’s Afsha’s strongest position, and for Al-Ahly he’s a force, scoring six goals and assisting ten times since his arrival in 2019 (Transfermarkt).
The player has also made an international breakthrough with Egypt, winning five caps.
However, with Ryan Christie, Tom Rogic and David Turnbull available, it’s hard to see where he would fit in at the Scottish champions without a dramatic late exit from the Bhoys.
It’s a name to keep in mind moving forward, regardless.
