Former Celtic transfer target Gyrano Kerk could be on the move this summer, his agent has said, as reported by The Daily Record.
Earlier this year Utrecht owner Frans van Seumeren told the media that the Scottish champions had made a concrete bid for the player in the closing stages of the January transfer window, though clearly it wasn’t enough for them to part ways with the winger (The Daily Record).
Kerk had an excellent 2019/20 season in Eredivisie, scoring 11 goals and assisting 12 times in 30 appearances for his club (Transfermarkt).
Primarily used on the flanks, the attacker can also play through the middle and it seems he is now attracting more attention this summer.
His agent reckons he’s ready for a move abroad.
As quoted by The Daily Record, Richinel Bryson said: “Movement in the transfer market has been held up because of the coronavirus crisis, but it’s back now.
“I have been in plenty of Zoom conversations with big foreign clubs. Gyrano has proved he’s ready for the next step, although it’s not a foregone conclusion that he will leave. But he is very ambitious.
“He is 24 years old and has had a very strong season.”
Months down the line, Celtic could still do with another quality winger in the squad to compete for places with Mohamed Elyounoussi and James Forrest.
Mikey Johnston is out injured again having struggled with his fitness over the last 12 months, while Karamoko Dembele is yet to really prove himself.
Kerk, 24, has the experience and the profile that would suggest he is more than capable of making a Scottish Premiership.
Will Celtic again be in the mix before the transfer window closes or will other teams, perhaps from more illustrious leagues, make their move?
It’s one to keep an eye on.
