Former Celtic boss Davie Hay wants the club to bring back one of the players who helped the side to an invincible domestic season two years ago.
He would like the Hoops to sign Patrick Roberts in the summer. Roberts spent two and a half seasons on loan at Hoops from Manchester City, before signing for Girona last season.
He has returned to Manchester, and Hay thinks that the time is right for Roberts to move back to Glasgow.
“Be a consideration”
“One man that certainly could and probably should be a consideration for Celtic this summer is Patrick Roberts” he said, as reported by the Evening Times.
Hay thinks that having Roberts and James Forrest in the same team could pay dividends for the Hoops.
“I think that the two of them could play in the same team and maybe switch flanks.”
Blighted by injury
It will be intriguing to see if the Hoops decide to move for Roberts once again. His first 18 months at Celtic were terrific. However, his last season was blighted by injury.
There is no doubt he would be a good signing for the Hoops. He could replace Scott Sinclair, who has become increasingly out of favour recently.
Perhaps the player will feel he has done all he can at Celtic and won’t want to return. It is certainly an option worth exploring though. The Celtic support will be delighted to have such an exciting player back in the team.
