As the transfer window gets set to open in Scotland, Celtic will be looking to make some additions to the squad. The current team seems to be reaching the end of its cycle, and some new blood is required.
One avenue that the Hoops can explore for players is free agents. Players that have just been released from their clubs.
Free agent now available
A recent free agent could well be a useful addition to the Celtic ranks – the now former Swansea captain Leroy Fer.
Wales Online have disclosed that the player will leave the club after failing to agree a new deal with the player.
It also reports that both Aston Villa and Lille were interested in signing the player, before he suffered a season ending injury.
Need new faces in middle of park
Celtic are in need of another midfielder to take the strain from Scott Brown and Callum McGregor. They have played far too many games this season.
Should Fer get back to full fitness, he is more than capable of slotting into the Hoops midfield. The chances of signing any player, let alone Fer, may depend on when Celtic appoint their next manager.
Once he is in place, Fer is definitely a player that the Hoops should think about signing. He would be a more than useful addition to the current Celtic squad.
