Celtic are one of the teams showing transfer interest in FC Copenhagen talent Mohammed Daramy, according to an exclusive report from website 90min.com.

The article suggests that English Premier League side Liverpool are showing the heaviest attention ahead of the January transfer window.

The report suggests that Jurgen Klopp’s Reds are currently weighing up making a bid for the 17-year-old attacker.

However, Celtic are mentioned as one of the other teams interested in the teenager, alongside other European clubs such as Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig.

Given Celtic’s preference of signing young, talented players of late, the links have some credibility. Clearly though we’d need to move quickly on any potential deal considering some of the other cash rich heavyweights involved.

Who is he?

Despite his young age, Daramy has already made an impact in the Copenhagen first-team.

He’s made 27 appearances for the senior team to date, netting himself five goals. His first effort for the club made him the Danish side’s youngest ever goalscorer.

That’s pretty impressive considering Copenhagen are a decent outfit. Like Celtic, they currently sit top of their Europa League group after three matches.

The teenager has the ability to play on both wings or through the middle as a central striker, making him a versatile option for Neil Lennon if we were to pursue him.

Transfermarkt suggests his contract doesn’t expire until 2021, so he’s not going to be arriving on the cheap anytime soon given his apparent potential.

However, he’s certainly a name to keep an eye on as we approach the usual January transfer window merry-go-round.
