Celtic loan player Daniel Arzani is about to embark on a new chapter of his career.
Australian outlet The World Game is reporting that he will join an unnamed Eredivisie side on a new loan this week upon the successful completion of a medical.
Arzani has been on loan at the Hoops for two years from Manchester City, who will remain the parent club, following his breakthrough at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
However, he suffered a horror injury just minutes into his debut at Dundee, rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament.
The winger has been on the comeback trail for much of the time since.
The 21-year-old did eventually return to fitness but failed to make a breakthrough into Neil Lennon’s plans.
He only managed to make one further substitute appearance for Celtic, against Partick Thistle in the Scottish Cup earlier this year.
Back in May he confirmed his time at Celtic was coming to an end but didn’t hold any bitterness towards the manager for not giving him opportunities.
He told The World Game: “It’s tough for Lenny – he came back for his second gig as Celtic manager with a lot of weight on his shoulders in going for 10 in a row.
“I’ve been coming back from injury and he’s never seen me play before, so there’s no way I can blame him.
“He’s a really good guy and a really good coach. It was just unfortunate circumstances.”
The six-cap international’s signing brought excitement at the time. It was a real shame for all parties that things turned out the way they did.
We’ll never really know if he had the ability to become a success at Celtic, though clearly many fans will be wishing him well with his future career.
Good luck Daniel!
