The next 7 days will be massive for the atmosphere surrounding Celtic

The atmosphere surrounding Celtic has undoubtedly changed, but you can’t deny that it remains as fragile as ever.

The appointment of Ange Postecoglou as new Celtic manager and Dom McKay as CEO has helped provide the club with some fresh faces. Something fans were itching to see after the tiresome campaign we endured last term.

Fans are prepared to give both men the opportunity to show they can cut it here. They’ve said most of the right things and a comfortable pre-season friendly win against Sheffield Wednesday kept the spirits high.

But there are more pressing concerns ahead for the football club. We have until July 15th to submit our squad to UEFA for our UCL second qualifying round tie against Midtjylland. If necessary, we have an extended four-day period to add any new signings to the squad too.

However, in an ideal world, Postecoglou would have another centre-back and right-back in well before we face the Danish side. Ideally, they would be in and ready to feature against Preston in our friendly on July 16th. That would give Celtic fans and coaching staff to see if they’re up to speed.

Signings will help improve the atmosphere at Celtic further

Yet there’s an issue. No real proven signings are in the door nearly a full month after Postecoglou was appointed as the club’s new manager. Celtic fans don’t have specifics on what positions in particular are being targeted.

Postecoglou was interviewed by Sky Sports after the win against Wednesday, and the Greek-Australian couldn’t even commit to saying the squad be up to par by the time the UCL qualifying tie comes around.

Celtic have been linked with a host of players over the last couple of weeks. The likes of Mario Vuskovic, Carl Starfelt, and Aaron Hickey have consistently been included in reports about a move to Parkhead. So far, we’ve yet to see any real progression on any of them.

And as we close in on that registration deadline date, fans are concerned by Postecoglou’s latest comments. Here’s a look at what some Hoops supporters have been saying:
