Time is certainly not on Celtic’s side if they want to make additions to the Hoops squad before the pre-season training gets underway.
The Hoops, as revealed by the Scottish Sun, return to pre-season training on Monday the 17th of June – less than a week away at the time of writing.
Less than a month since last game
Interestingly, that is less than a month since the last domestic game of the season, the 2-1 Scottish Cup Final win over Hearts.
The Hoops need to make new some signings to freshen up the squad. But unless they move fast, there won’t have been any players signed before training begins in earnest.
Manager hopefully not perturbed
Neil Lennon will hopefully not be too perturbed about the situation. He has been in football long enough to know that it can take time for deals to get done.
The Celtic support might not be too happy about the situation though. The fans will have been hoping that the club would have brought some players in by now.
Time could be a particular concern as the Hoops start their Champions League qualifiers in less than a month. Behind the scenes you imagine that the Celtic board are working feverishly to get deals done.
Perhaps the club will take everyone by surprise and announce a raft of new signings in the week ahead. The chances of that happening though, appear to be slim to none.
