As we anxiously wait the Celtic team to face Rosenborg, these sides are now familiar foes.

The two sides met in the Champions League qualifiers with Celtic coming out on top that time.

But Brendan Rodgers’ men now face the Norwegian league leaders again in the Europa League group stage.

Here is how we expect Celtic to line up tonight, with Rodgers reverting back to a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Goalkeeper

Craig Gordon is almost certain to retain his spot between the sticks.

The Scotland international, 35, is still the number one choice at Celtic Park despite his age.

Defence

With Rodgers likely to switch to a back four, Mikael Lustig could return to the line-up and take the right-back slot.

The Sweden international was dropped to the bench against St Mirren and has not played since the win over Rangers.

With Lustig on the right, Kieran Tierney will play at left-back. The 21-year-old is one of the hottest young talents in Europe and all eyes will be on his Europa League performances.

Dedryck Boyata is likely to play at centre-back but with Kristoffer Ajer a doubt and Jozo Simunovic injured, Rodgers has a decision to make.

He could recall youngster Jack Hendry but he is only just returning from injury. The more likely option is Filip Benkovic.

The 21-year-old is on loan from Leicester City and he made his debut against St Mirren last Friday.

Central midfield

Captain Scott Brown will hope to lead his team to victory tonight. (Photo by Ian MacNicol/Getty Images)

Captain Scott Brown is the leader in midfield and will start. Rodgers has a decision to make on who partners him.

Olivier Ntcham was sent off last Friday but is eligible to play in the Europa League. The Frenchman is the most likely man to partner Brown.

Attacking midfield

James Forrest and Callum McGregor will probably start on the flanks tonight.

Australian midfielder Tom Rogic is likely to occupy the central attacking midfield role.

Scott Sinclair is likely to settle for a place on the bench.

Striker

This is a straight pick between Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths.

There are arguments for both players but Edouard is likely to get the nod.

The 20-year-old has scored four goals this season, making him Celtic’s leading marksman for the year.
