Brendan Rodgers must know where Celtic's missing men are

The feel good spirit is back at Celtic, but there are some players who are missing out on our new found joys.

Players such as Nir Bitton are well accounted for because the injured Israeli has been a constant on social media, showing his progress back to fitness.

However there is a growing list of players who have just disappeared from the face of the earth.

Injury not an excuse for Izaguirre

Back-up left back Emilio Izaguirre is one with the veteran Honduran nowhere to be seen since August.

Kieran Tierney’s feared injury against injury prompted Chris Sutton to say that Celtic don’t have a replacement.

Izaguirre was brought back after a one year spell in Saudi Arabia as a presumed back up to Tierney.

With the usual build up of games towards Christmas, Izaguirre would have been suspected to fill in.

This hasn’t been the case and Rodgers must know where he is.

Bigger problems for Griffiths

Another man gone AWOL is striker Leigh Griffiths, who hasn’t been seen since pulling himself from Scotland duty.

Griffiths stated he wasn’t fit enough to play internationally and reportedly injured himself in recovery.

Apart from emojis on social media regarding results, Griffiths hasn’t said a word of his return.

Perhaps his problems go deeper than just physical injuries and, if so, he has everyone’s best wishes.

Allan running down his contract

Midfielder Scott Allan has had a tough time at Celtic since joining from Hibernian in 2016.

Allan has been sent on loan a couple of times but is back at the club but rarely seen at Lennoxtown.

With the number of central midfielders available at its lowest, Allan still hasn’t appeared as a contender.

It seems he is running down the clock until his contract runs out next summer.

However, someone doesn’t just go missing so where is he?

Compper ousted from side he wants to be in

One player who does appear to have gone missing is Marvin Compper.

Purchased from Red Bull Leipzig in January, the former German international has played once for Celtic.

The 33-year-old reared head briefly to speak out about his current manager before Leipzig faced Celtic in the Europa League last week.

The German does say though that he is settled in Scotland and the only thing missing is game time at Celtic.

All in all it appears that if you are not in the manager’s plans then you won’t be with the team – simple.

The money spent on these players could have went towards buying those who can play.

Once the missing men are off the wage bill it’ll free up space for a youth or perhaps a new player to come in and take their mantle.
