The Daily Record has provided a fresh and exciting new Eddie Howe to Celtic timeline.
Howe has long been linked with a move to Celtic, with supporters made to believe that the Hoops had to wait for Bournemouth’s season to come to an end before an appointment could be made. This was said to be due to contractual and staffing issues.
However, the Record has reported last night that Howe to Celtic should be confirmed before the end of the week. Chief Executive Dominic McKay wants to get everything sorted before the week’s out with the Scottish Premiership season now over.
Unfortunately, for those hoping to hear an announcement today, you may be disappointed. The report claims that Celtic won’t be announcing Howe at any stage over the next 24 hours.
But the wheels appear to be in motion for an announcement at some stage this week. It’s anyone’s guess as to when.
Eddie Howe to Celtic timeline a lot clearer now
This always looked like it was going to be the case. As soon as Bournemouth were eliminated from the English Championship playoffs on Saturday, this seemed inevitable.
The Record states that Howe wants to bring coaches Stephen Purches and Simon Weatherstone to Celtic Park with him. Bournemouth’s loss to Brentford at the weekend opened up that for Celtic to make their approach.
And it’s no surprise to see the club trying to move swiftly now that hitch is removed. We don’t have a moment to spare this summer as major squad decisions need to be made ahead of the Champions League qualifiers in less than two months.

When Howe is announced, we’ll need to see some quickfire signings come in the door. The speed of our recruitment after the appointment has been made will show us just how much background work has been done in recent weeks. You have to hope it will have been substantial.
For many supporters, however, Howe’s announcement will just be a major relief. So many have been concerned with how much the speculation has dragged on and on over the last couple of months. The sooner we get him in the door, the quicker fans can be put at ease.
Thankfully, it looks as though it’s going to happen this week.
In other news, Celtic’s first transfer priority after Howe’s announcement is clear and obvious.
