First-Team Squad

Celtic’s first-team squad for the 2025/26 season is currently being assembled by Martin O’Neill and his recruitment staff.

Celtic goalkeepers

Kasper Schmeichel

Celtic replaced Joe Hart with another experienced goalkeeper in the shape of Kasper Schmeichel in the summer of 2024. The Dane signed a one-year deal at Parkhead.

Viljami Sinisalo

Viljami Sinisalo is a Finnish international goalkeeper will play second fiddle to Schmeichel once again for the 2025/26 season. He signed a five-year deal from Aston Villa.

Ross Doohan

Ross Doohan came through the youth ranks at Celtic before departing for Tranmere Rovers in 2022 after numerous loan spells. He returned to the Hoops in 2025 following his Aberdeen exit.

Celtic defenders

Alistair Johnston

Alistair Johnston strengthened the Celtic defence in January 2023 with a £3m move from CF Montreal. The Canadian star immediately established himself as first choice right-back.

Julian Araujo (loan)

Julian Araujo was the only signing of the Wilfried Nancy era after joining on loan from AFC Bournemouth for the remainder of the 2025/26 season.

He has previously had spells with LA Galaxy and Barcelona.

Kieran Tierney

Celtic sold Kieran Tierney to Arsenal for £25m in 2019, but the left-back has returned to Paradise on a five-year deal after six years in North London and a spell with Real Sociedad.

Auston Trusty

Auston Trusty signed for Celtic on summer 2024 transfer deadline day in a £6m switch from Sheffield United. He will provide competition for Liam Scales at centre-back.

Liam Scales

Liam Scales left Shamrock Rovers after just 18 months to join Celtic in 2021. After a loan spell at Aberdeen during 2022/23, Scales is now a regular for the Hoops.

Maik Nawrocki (on loan to Hannover 96 until June 2026)

Celtic paid Legia Warsaw £4.3m to sign Maik Nawrocki in July 2023 as Rodgers sought to strengthen his defensive options. However, the Polish centre-back is currently way down the pecking order at Parkhead.

Cameron Carter-Vickers

Celtic initially signed Cameron Carter-Vickers on loan before agreeing to a £6m transfer with Tottenham Hotspur in June 2022. The American is a vital defender for the Bhoys.

Anthony Ralston

Anthony Ralston signed for Celtic on his 10th birthday and became part of the first-team at the age of 18. The Scotland international is back-up to Alistair Johnston.

Hayato Inamura (on loan to Tokyo FC until June 2026)

Hayato Inamura cost just £250k from Japanese side Albirex Niigata in July 2025. Certainly one for the future, he can play at both centre-back and left-back.

Stephen Welsh (on loan to Motherwell until June 2026)

Celtic ushered Stephen Welsh into their first-team squad in 2018 after starting his career in the academy ranks. The defender signed a long-term deal with the Hoops in 2023 but seems certain to leave this summer.

Dane Murray

Dane Murray joined Celtic as a six-year-old and has since risen through the academy before making his first-team debut against FC Midtjylland in 2021.

Marcelo Saracchi (on loan from Boca Juniors until June 2026)

Marcelo Saracchi joined Simpson-Pusey as Celtic’s only loan players after the close of the summer 2025 transfer window. The Uruguayan has eight caps for his country and will provide cover for Tierney.

Benjamin Arthur (loan)

Benjamin Arthur was brought in to provide cover at centre-back on transfer deadline day in February 2026. Before joining the Hoops, he had made less than 10 career appearances in the professional game.

Adam Montgomery

Adam Montgomery is now on his sixth loan spell from Celtic having joined newly-promoted Scottish Premiership side Livingston until the end of the campaign.

Celtic midfielders

Odin Thiago Holm (on loan at Valerenga until December 2026)

Celtic signed Odin Thiago Holm from Valerenga in June 2023 for £2.5m as their first new signing of the summer. The Norway talent quit the Eliteserien outfit after four years and 76 senior games.

Paulo Bernardo

Celtic recruited Paulo Bernardo on a permanent deal from Benfica after a successful season-long loan throughout 2023/24. The Bhoys triggered an option to buy clause.

Reo Hatate

Kawasaki Frontale sold Reo Hatate to Celtic in 2022 for just £1.5m. The Japan midfielder has been a sensation since arriving at Celtic Park as a dynamic, creative threat within the team’s engine room.

Callum McGregor

Callum McGregor is one of the brightest talents to emerge from Celtic’s academy and is the captain. The midfielder is one of the most decorated Bhoys of all time.

Luke McCowan

Luke McCowan is a boyhood Celtic fan who realised his ultimate dream when he joined the Hoops from Dundee on summer 2024 transfer deadline day for £1m.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Arne Engels

Arne Engels became Celtic’s record signing on summer 2024 transfer deadline day when he made the £11m switch from Bundesliga outfit FC Augsburg. He is viewed as the replacement for Matt O’Riley.

Benjamin Nygren

Benjamin Nygren was the third signing of the summer 2025 transfer window, costing just £2m from Danish side FC Nordsjælland.

Celtic forwards

James Forrest

James Forrest is the longest-serving member of Celtic’s first-team squad having debuted in 2010 under Neil Lennon. He has played over 500 games and is the club’s most decorated player ever with 26 major honours won.

Luis Palma (on loan to Lech Poznan until June 2026)

Celtic paid £3.5m to add Luis Palma to their first-team squad from Aris Thessaloniki in August 2023. He started his Parkhead career brightly but currently isn’t central to Brendan Rodgers’ plans.

Michel-Ange Balikwisha

Michel-Ange Balikwisha was a Celtic transfer target for over a year before signing for £5m from Royal Antwerp on a five-year contract.

Jota

Jota secured a stunning return to Celtic in January 2025 when he signed for £8m from Stade Rennais just 18 months after sealing a whopping £25m exit from Parkhead to Al-Ittihad.

Hyunjun Yang

Gangwon FC agreed to sell Hyunjun Yang to Celtic in July 2023 after just two years in their first-team squad. He has come on leaps and bounds at Parkhead since.

Sebastian Tounekti

Celtic had to submit three transfer bids before signing winger Sebastian Tounekti. The Hoops secured his signature late on deadline day for a fee of £5.2m from Hammarby.

Joel Mvuka (loan)

Joel Mvuka was the last of the Celtic players to join on loan on deadline day in the 2026 winter transfer window.

His move was touch and go at one point but he was signed in time to provide extra competition out wide on the wings.

Johnny Kenny (on loan to Bolton Wanderers until June 2026)

Celtic snapped up Sligo Rovers prospect Johnny Kenny in 2022. The striker has enjoyed two brilliant loan spells with Shamrock Rovers and scored his first Hoops goal last season against Aberdeen.

Daizen Maeda

Daizen Maeda initially moved to Celtic on loan with a £1.5m option to buy, which was eventually triggered. He has since given the Bhoys a versatile attacking threat with a sublime work rate to cause defenders endless issues.

Callum Osmand

Callum Osmand decided it was best for his career to leave Premier League side Fulham and develop further at Celtic. He signed in June 2025 on a free transfer and is one for the future.

Kelechi Iheanacho

Kelechi Iheanacho was the final signing of the Brendan Rodgers era as Celtic desperately scrambled to get a striker in. Iheanacho signed as a free agent after the deadline closed following an agreement with Sevilla to cancel his contract early.

Tomas Cvancara (loan)

Tomas Cvancara was brought in by Martin O’Neill to help fill the ongoing striker issue. He first rose to fame thanks to his form with Sparta Prague but joined the Hoops knowing he had the chance to lead the line.

Junior Adamu (loan)

Junior Adamu was the first signing through the door on transfer deadline day in the 2026 winter window. Adamu signed on loan with an option to buy from Bundesliga outfit Freiburg in a bid to bolster the forward line.

Shin Yamada (on loan to Preusen Munster until June 2026)

Shin Yamada was one of the latest recruits to come from Japan over the years. He came from Kawaski Frontale, the same side Celtic discovered Hatate, and joined in July 2025.
