Trophy History

Celtic’s trophy history is a rich one with the Bhoys’ silverware record among the very best in Scotland. The Glasgow giants have also won a European title over the club’s esteemed story.

The Celtic Park outfit have enjoyed lavish success from their beginnings in the 19th century to today under Ange Postecoglou. The Australian has overseen vast success since taking the hot seat. So, if you ever need reminding, here is a list of every trophy that Celtic have won to date…

Celtic have won the top-flight trophy 52 times in their history

The Bhoys have won the Scottish top-flight trophy 52 times through Celtic’s history under its various names. They enjoyed their maiden triumph back in 1892/93 after joining the Scottish Football League as a founding member in 1890/91. It would be the start of a dominant force.

Celtic would go on to win the Division One title 29 times before the Scottish Football League renamed the top-flight as the Premier Division in 1975. Another seven titles would follow at Celtic Park before the start of the breakaway Premier League, which returned another eight.

While Celtic have so far won the Premiership title eight times since the Premier League and Football League merged in 2013. Postecoglou returned the club to the top of the pyramid in 2021/22 having overseen a major rebuild in his first season after they briefly fell to second.

Celtic have won a record 40 Scottish Cup titles in their history

As well as being one of the most successful top-flight clubs in Scottish football history, Celtic have won the Scottish Cup title a record 40 times. The Bhoys first lifted the Scottish Football Association’s (SFA) trophy during the 1891/92 term for the Glasgow natives’ first major title.

Celtic are also one of the most successful clubs in the history of the Scottish League Cup with 21 titles. The Bhoys have even finished as the runners-up for the trophy on 15 occasions too.

Celtic have won the European Cup once in their storied history

Celtic have also won the European Cup once during the club’s storied history after lifting the UEFA title in 1966/67. The Bhoys’ triumph in the tournament, now known as the Champions League, also saw them become the first of just nine clubs to ever achieve a European treble.
