Itโs gone a touch under-recognised by the mainstream media, but the performance of Josip Juranovic for Celtic against St Johnstone yesterday certainly didnโt escape the supportersโ attention.
Juranovic was once again playing out of position at left-back in Ange Postecoglouโs team. Thatโs despite a fortnight of impressing down his more natural right side with Croatia.

But even still, the former Legia Warsaw star managed to show plenty of positive attributes despite continuing in the role.
Josip was a constant threat down the left flank. Playing alongside Jota, the duo were the main operators for Celtic, particularly in the early stages of the game.
The way in which Juranovic covered the Hampden turf was extremely impressive too. The Croat was constantly bombing forward whilst always seeming to be back in position for any Saints counter. His back-tracking has become an extremely noticeable trait in recent weeks since his ยฃ2.5m summer move [Sky Sports].
Josip Juranovic โ the best left-back at Celtic?
Itโs difficult to know whether itโs a good thing that Juranovic is the best left-back at the club. After all, we signed one in the summer and have 2 others in reserve waiting for an opportunity. That a right-back is featuring ahead of them makes for slightly concerning reading.
But it is what it is and Josip has made himself undroppable in a position he would clearly rather not be playing in.
Considering how impressive heโs been on the left, it would be ideal to see him get a run in his favoured spot. Yes Anthony Ralston is doing well and is having a fine individual campaign too, but Josip is a Croatia international. We have to see whatโs potentially there to unlock.
Yesterday was such an efficient performance from Josip. St Johnstone got no luck down his flank at all whilst he didnโt waste a single past throughout the 90. Even at this early stage, heโs showing majorly promising signs.
And below, we take a look at some of the fan reaction to his display:
