The Celtic supporters have acknowledged Gavin Strachan’s commitment to the Parkhead cause after turning down the Hartlepool job.

According to Alan Nixon, Strachan rebuffed an attempt from the League 2 club to lure him down south. This comes after spending the last 17 months as a first-team coach at Parkhead.

Strachan has extensive coaching experience to his name behind the scenes. Before arriving at Celtic, he worked in backroom roles at Peterborough United and Doncaster Rovers. He also spent a spell as Ilkeston manager back in 2015.

And as he continues to be rated highly by Celtic, it appears Strachan is just as committed to the cause in Glasgow after seemingly snubbing the chance to head south.

Celtic fans have in the past had a fractious relationship with Strachan. This is due to the decline in the club’s fortunes after his arrival last June, with many pointing the finger and questioning what he actually does at the club.

However, Ange Postecoglou has seen enough from Strachan to keep him on. That alone has led to a slightly increased appreciation of the first-team coach’s abilities.

Strachan is clearly seen as a valuable part of the set-up at Parkhead. Even if jokes continue to persist about his use of his laptop during matchdays, it’s clear it’s not something that particularly irks him either. After all, a joke was made of it during the Celtic Christmas Ad this year.

Regardless of all of that, Celtic look like keeping hold of Strachan for the time being. He clearly enjoys what he does at Lennoxtown and feels valued in Glasgow.

And in a refreshing update, the Celtic supporters have been quick to tip their hats to him for his commitment:
