Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has explained exactly what will be going on at Lennoxtown in a vital 2-week period for the club.
For the first time in 2022, the Hoops will have a couple of weeks without midweek fixtures after coming through their latest phase of matches still top of the Premiership.
Ange Postecoglou has been working absolute miracles at Parkhead this season, and it’s clear his strengthening in January has nudged Celtic even closer to title success. The busy phase of games has still seen us drop only 2 points since the winter break whilst we’ve also progressed to the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup.

And as Ange looks ahead to what many clubs would consider a normal week, he’s explained what the agenda will be at Lennoxtown in the days ahead. As quoted by the Herald, the Hoops boss said: “The players will still be in at Lennoxtown but they will be in with a different mindset. When you know there is a game coming up in midweek, you tend to just work on your recovery. It will be great for the players to just train as normal as this is the first free midweek we’ve had all year. It allows them to freshen up mentally instead of preparing for a game in midweek.
“I will freshen up a few and I’ll also get the chance to put some real, physical work into others who need it. The ones who haven’t had a lot of game-time recently. I think it will be enormously beneficial for us to have 2 midweeks coming up. It’s 8 days between Livingston and the cup game and Monday, and then we don’t play again until the weekend.
“That’s two good weeks of training before the international break and that is valuable time for us as coaches as we can actually do some work with the players.”
Celtic finally get some rest after hectic schedule
It feels odd to be having such a decent break so soon before an international stoppage later this month. All of a sudden, Celtic only have 2 matches in the space of 24 days before our derby clash against Rangers on April 3rd.
That’s absolutely invaluable for us as a club. Finally we can see the players get some much-needed rest. Hopefully, it allows the likes of David Turnbull and Kyogo Furuhashi to return or at the very least get close to it in training.
Not that these next two fixtures can be taken lightly. Ange won’t be treating this like some sort of much-needed holiday. It’s imperative we win at Tannadice if we want to keep alive our hopes of an incredible treble success. The same goes for when Ross County come to Celtic Park. They’re flying high and dropped points right now is a massive no-no.

Celtic will get some proper rest and relaxation come the end of the season. For now, however, they’ll need to remain as focused and as professional as possible to see these challenges through.
You can’t deny there’s an air of excitement brimming around the Celtic support at the moment. No wonder too given what’s at stake between now and the summer. Ange seems to have everything in order, and to his credit, he absolutely radiates calmness about the place.
No excuses then come Monday night when we face United. We should be well rested and well prepared for the job at hand.
