Celtic may end up needing to pay €600k [£500k] in order to secure Bayern Munich talent Christopher Scott, Sky Germany reports.

Sky reported yesterday that Celtic and Brentford had held talks with the player in the past. It’s been claimed that Scott wants to move in order to find regular first-team football after another year with the Munich B team.

Scott’s contract is up at the end of the season. However, it appears that Bayern have the option to extend the contract by a further year.

Sky report that Bayern could potentially do this and then charge a £500k fee for anyone looking to take the attacking midfielder.

In addition to that, Sky believe that Munich could insert a buy-back option in any potential move. It comes with Scott having only made 2 appearances for the Bundesliga’s top team.

Scott has been capped at under-20 level for Germany. However, he appears to have hit a glass ceiling in Munich.

Christopher Scott to Celtic – would Hoops be up for paying a fee?

Part of the attraction of this was that he was potentially available for nothing. That his Bayern deal was up and therefore it wouldn’t have put any real hole in Celtic’s pocket.

Now, you’re left looking at whether Scott to Celtic would truly be something worth pursuing. Whether we need another attacking midfielder despite the quality that already exists within the club.

Scott of course offers versatility. He can play on the left flank and has experience in several positions. In addition to that, he’s a midfielder who likes to get beyond the opposition defence and bag goals and assists.

Whether he could do that at Celtic isn’t so certain. He hasn’t played at a level of intensity that Ange’s Hoops first-team plays at. It would still be a big step from him even if he is coming from the Bayern campus.

At only 19, there’s plenty of development potential there. The kind of talent Ange likes to work with and develop into a player.

Time will tell whether Scott arrives in Glasgow. But with a fee potentially involved, that could change things.
