Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has plenty of work to do in the transfer market and has shown his willingness to trim the squad where necessary to make space for incomings.
Despite plenty of rumours doing the rounds, Stephen Welsh’s loan move to KV Mechelen is the only solidified piece of business conducted so far by the Hoops in either direction.
Lately, Celtic have engaged in talks with Sarpsborg winger Sondre Ørjasæter as mounting injuries in the wide areas could lead to action. However, his current employers want £7 million before entertaining the prospect of a deal.
At this time of year, transfer silly season will see all manner of players linked with a move to Parkhead. Flipping the script, it also prompts plenty of chatter surrounding who could be cut loose to free up space within the first-team squad.

Feeding into that mantra, Celtic could now have the opportunity to sanction a second exit of the window following developments this afternoon.
Celtic’s Maik Nawrocki is a loan target for Oxford United
According to The Daily Record, Oxford United are lining up a loan move for Celtic fringe star Maik Nawrocki, who is out of favour after making a solitary appearance this season against Falkirk.
Gary Rowett has been alerted to the Polish defender’s situation by scouts at the EFL club, and they are keen to try and strike an agreement if the Bhoys will permit him to leave on a temporary basis.
Cameron Carter-Vickers, Liam Scales and Auston Trusty are in front of the former Legia Warsaw man in the pecking order. Dane Murray has been recalled from Queens Park to take up the vacancy left by Welsh.
Nawrocki’s £4.3 million move to Celtic has followed a strange course. Injuries and others stepping into the central defensive limelight probably haven’t helped his case, but it is likely any move out will hinge on whether suitable cover is deemed to be available.
Maik Nawrocki isn’t someone in Celtic’s plans amid exit talk
To state the obvious, Nawrocki is on the fringes at Celtic and doesn’t look likely to be given many opportunities over the second half of the season.
Presumably, any departure would throw up questions over whether the Bhoys could dip into the market for defensive reinforcements.
Welsh has already left the building, leaving not much in the way of back-up defenders if Nawrocki was to follow suit. Careful consideration will need to be given to this one as Rodgers continues to shape his squad this month.
