Well, it seems the Celtic fans on Twitter have the Rangers supporters wound up to one heck of a degree this evening.
Earlier this afternoon, the Scottish government announced a full national lockdown starting tonight for the mainland. Only essential journeys will be allowed, with Nicola Sturgeon saying she’s more worried now than she’s ever been since March (BBC).
This is in response to the new variant of the virus that’s sweeping the country. Action had to be taken and it has been. The new restrictions will replace the current three-week tier four restrictions we’re currently in that came into play on Boxing Day.
BBC journalist Chris McLaughlin revealed earlier on that elite sport in Scotland won’t be affected. This is great news for Celtic considering any postponement would’ve seen us have to fit in three extra games more than our rivals from February onwards.
The Rangers supporters wound up? Hardly a first
However, the Hoops fanbase on social media have sensed a wee wind-up opportunity tonight. And my goodness it’s working beautifully as we watch our rivals bite.
Plenty on social media have sarcastically pushed the idea of a null and void league. This is in response to the constant Rangers fan protests to do the same last season when Celtic had run away with things.

Anyone with half a brain can see this is a wind-up. We know fine well the league can’t be voided and that it’s hypocritical to call it out.
However, that irony appears to have gone right over our rivals’ heads. Instead they see this is a massive desperation tactic to save the 10. You couldn’t believe it. You would actually have thought they would’ve been right up for it given what they were saying last term.
Even worse, Rangers fans were trying to void the league with only eight games remaining. They don’t need to look far in their hunt for desperation tactics.
Regardless, take a look at some of the reaction as the Hoops fans have their rivals on strings this evening:
