Celtic have started the SWPL season with real intent, delivering an enormous 9-0 opening-day win away to Montrose this afternoon.

Having so narrowly lost out on the title to Glasgow City last season, the aim of this term is to again be challenging for major honours come the end of the campaign.

And Fran Alonso’s side have produced a big, morale-boosting victory, with the goals raining in at Links Park across the 90 minutes.

Kit Loferski netted a superb four goals while the impressive Amy Gallacher grabbed a double of her own. There was also a debut goal for Imane Addi, with the ever-reliable Chloe Craig also hitting the back of the net. Montrose also conceded an own goal.

The squad have lost some key players during the summer months, including fan favourites Jacynta and Natasha Flint. But new signings have arrived too and hopes are high of another strong season in the top-flight.
