Celtic have announced that the Celtic FC Women team will play a fixture at Celtic Park in the new year, with all season ticket holders eligible to attend for free.

A home SWPL match at Celtic Park was one of the cited benefits offered by the club when revealing the season ticket package during the summer.

It follows on from delivering on another of those promises recently – making a Celtic FC Women match available for streaming on the Pass To Paradise service.

Four more of those are set to occur over the course of the season, with five Celtic B matches also scheduled for streaming.

The Women’s match at Celtic will take place on the weekend of 26th or 27 March, during an international break for the men’s first-team.

Manager Fran Alonso is excited to savour the stadium again, saying: “Myself and the team are really looking forward to the match at Celtic Park and it will be a great opportunity for us to once again showcase our team and the women’s game, something which is hugely important to us.

“We played at Celtic Park last year, beating Rangers but unfortunately, due to the pandemic, we did not have our fans with us.

“We are fighting hard this season and we will be doing all we can to bring the club success this season.’

“I know the players will get a huge lift from performing at Celtic Park and we are really looking forward to this occasion.”

Hibernian are currently due to face Celtic on that weekend. However, it’s unclear whether the club intends to arrange a match against Rangers or Glasgow City instead, which could have big SWPL title implications.

No opponent was mentioned in the announcement of the fixture, with more details to be communicated later.
