Celtic FC Women have kept pace with their rivals at the top of SWPL 1 after a stunning 6-0 Sunday win away to Hamilton this evening.
With Glasgow City and Rangers both picking up wins earlier in the day, it was crucial that Fran Alonso’s side maintained pressure at the top of the table.
Celtic opened the scoring almost immediately through Jacynta and barely stopped until half-time, moving four up at the interval. Kathleen McGovern, Charlie Wellings and Cheyenne Shorts all got themselves on the scoresheet.

With the game effectively over, the team could have been forgiven for taking the foot off the pedal.
However, after the break, the deluge of goals continued with Caitlin Hayes and Olivia Chance adding a fifth and sixth.
Six goals, with six different scorers, isn’t a bad evening’s working at all, is it?
Celtic remain third in the table on goal difference, level with City and two points behind Rangers. Although, Rangers haven’t yet played either of their title rivals. The Ghirls only draw so far came against last year’s title winners.
Next up for the team is a winnable match at home to Spartans, before a trip to face Hearts in Edinburgh.
Those fixtures build up to a massive derby doubleheader against Rangers in the League Cup at the end of the month and the top-flight early in November.
In other news, Neil Lennon needs to move on from Celtic nightmare.
