Celtic face Rangers in the Scottish League Cup final on Sunday but the drama gets underway much earlier with the women’s teams of both clubs kicking off the big derby weekend on Friday night.
Fran Alonso’s outfit play their Rangers counterparts at the Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie this Friday evening. The match gets underway at 7pm.
Tickets are still on sale from the club, priced reasonably at £8 per adult and £4 for under 16s. A combo adult and child ticket is available for just £10.
It’s a match with huge league-table ramifications. Currently, Celtic sit second in SWPL1, three points behind league leaders Glasgow City and just a point ahead of Rangers.
With the two teams still chasing the title and Champions League qualification, it’s a high-stakes encounter. Alonso’s side will be hoping to be backed by strong home support for the derby clash.
Celtic FC Women didn’t play over the weekend due to an international break but ran out 5-0 winners away to Boroughmuir Thistle in the Scottish Women’s Cup in their last fixture. They are due to play Hearts in the next round.
The last meeting with Rangers was back in November away from home, which ended 0-0.
BBC Alba will be providing live coverage of this Friday’s big game, so if you aren’t able to make it to Airdrie, there will be an easily accessible way to watch all the action.
This weekend is guaranteed to be box office for both Celtic teams.
