Celtic prospect Mitchel Frame is one of the Bhoys prospects getting a big chance in Portugal this week as Brendan Rodgers takes a look at talents from all levels at the club.

Earlier this week we brought you seven names who were spotted in training pictures including Rocco Vata, Ben Summers, Josh Dede and Daniel Kelly.

Frame wasn’t included on our list but it has now been reported that the young left-back is amongst the group training in the Portuguese sunshine as he looks for a future path into the Bhoys first-team squad. [Daily Record]

This comes after reported interest from English Premier League clubs such as Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur in the 17-year-old.

The Scotland youth international signed professional terms with Celtic in 2022 and is contracted to the Bhoys until 2025, so he’s already made his first big career decision to pursue a future in Glasgow.

However, part of his development is down to Celtic, too. It’s important he gets the chances and exposure to first-team coaches that allow him to make an impression and prove himself. Weeks like this one are key periods given that it’s unlikely such a young player will be offered too much competitive football at this stage.

The biggest moment of Frame’s fledgling career so far came in last season’s Scottish Youth Cup final against Rangers when he scored one of the goals in an 11-goal thriller victory for the young Hoops.

Celtic have struggled to retain some top talents in recent years with clubs such as Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Manchester City all coming in to take them off our hands early.

There are increasing signs, however, that the Bhoys can convince and develop a new generation of talent to make an impact on the senior squad. Frame may well be part of that in time.
