It’s always great to see Celtic Academy sides following Postecoglou tactics, and when they’re outplaying the likes of the Manchester City, all the better.
The Ange Postecoglou approach is clearly working beyond the reaches of the first-team. We’ve seen the B Team play with real swagger, while teams in the Academy set-up are producing talents who are more than capable of stepping up.
It’s been excellent to see.
And if more proof were needed, the Celtic Academy shared an excellent goal against Manchester City in a recent game at U13 level.
“Possession, Passing, Probing” was the caption from the Celtic Academy twitter page, and it’s very hard to argue. The Bhoys move the ball seamlessly, and finish with ease against surely one of the world’s foremost footballing academies.

What’s extremely clear to see is that Ange Postecoglou’s style for his first-team has been transplanted across age groups. The runs the players are making, the passes being found, and of course, the finish. It’s all extremely encouraging.
We’ve seen a litany of players make their names even beyond the first-team. While the likes of Adam Montgomery, Karamoko Dembele and Ben Doak are now well-known, talents like Ben Wylie, Rocco Vata and Tsoanelo Letsosa are surely not too far away either.
It’s a very, very good sign.
A consistent style from Ange Postecoglou all the way to Celtic Academy teams is imperative
For a real pathway to emerge, it’s so important that a stylistic blueprint is set.
For years, we’ve not seen all that many Celtic Academy talents make a meaningful dent in the first-team. Yes, there are outliers, but in the main? It’s not been incredible.
The best way, surely, to encourage young players to believe they can make the grade at Celtic, is to encourage a style that’s similar across all age-groups.
Judging from this highlight, Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou is making that happen.
Yes, it’d be silly to get too carried away based on one highlight from a game. But if the U13s are playing the same way with the ball as the first-team stars they hope to emulate?
Hard to argue that’s not a good thing.
