Summer signing Joey Dawson found himself on the scoresheet again for Celtic B this afternoon as the young Hoops came back twice to rescue a 3-3 draw away to Gretna FC 2008.
Gretna rushed to a two-goal lead at half-time in the Scottish Lowland Football League, threatening to end an impressive unbeaten streak for Tommy McIntyre’s side.
However, defender Dane Murray got the Bhoys back into the match from a corner before Dawson equalised.

Remarkably, Gretna went ahead again before Ben Wylie continued his fine form this season with another equaliser at 3-3.
The home side then had a man sent off with 16 minutes remaining. Celtic piled on the pressure in the closing stages as you’d expect, looking for a seventh win in a row.
Sadly it was not to be, despite Brody Paterson rattling the post in the 90th minute.
Given the high standards being set by Celtic B, it will be a disappointment to only draw, but credit has to be given to the young team for showing resilience and battling back into the fixture on two occasions.
On another day, it easily could have resulted in a stunning comeback victory.
With Owen Moffat now training with the first-team and supporters gaining awareness of talents such as Rocco Vata, Bosun Lawal and Wylie, it’s fair to say the Celtic B experiment has been a positive of the season so far.
Games like today’s is hopefully a great learning experience for these players working under McIntyre and Darren O’Dea, better preparing them for a transition to Ange Postecoglou’s squad.
In other news, Celtic announce broadcast option after Sky Sports opt-out.
