Celtic youngster Bosun Lawal has been awarded the Ireland under-19s player of the year after a strong year for club and country [FAI].
The 19-year-old joined the Hoops from the academy of English side Watford and has excelled as part of the Bhoys B side.
Alongside his involvement in the Scottish Lowland League, Lawal has also been featuring for his nation, the Republic of Ireland, at several youth levels.

Across 2021 and 2022, the defender played his part in the Ireland under-19s squad as they aimed to qualify for the European Championships.
However, he also featured for older age groups in friendly action, turning out for Ireland under-21s, playing 45 minutes in a 0-0 draw with Wales.
His contributions to the Ireland youth international set-up saw him be rewarded with the accolade of Men’s under-19 International Player of the Year.
MORE CELTIC STORIES
He follows in the footsteps of previous winners that include players such as former Celtic coach Damien Duff and ex-academy hopefuls Jonathan Afolabi and Lee O’Connor, who were the last two winners of the award [FAI].
Lawal took to his Instagram story to post a photograph of his award, starting the New Year off in style after an impressive 18 months at Parkhead.
In recent weeks, the teenager has featured as part of Ange Postecoglou’s squad, in training and also taking a place on the bench.

I am sure he will be looking to go one better in 2023 and follow in the footsteps of B-side teammate Rocco Vata by making his first-team debut.
It will certainly be interesting to see the next step the Irishman takes at Parkhead, whether that is making his first appearance for the Hoops or heading out on loan for more regular game time.
He could also remain at Parkhead and continue featuring for the Bhoys youth side after recently captaining the Celts to a 5-2 Lowland League derby victory at Paradise last week.
The defender is clearly highly rated at international level. So a more regular role in the Ireland under-21s side is expected to follow after picking up his award at under-19s level.
