Celtic are a club thriving at all levels and there looks to be a mentality running through the club that is primarily focused on excelling on the pitch.

While the Bhoys’ first-team are on a ten-match domestic winning run, the B Team and Celtic FC Women are also making great strides in their own respective challenges.

Jonny Hayes has joined Stephen McManus in looking to guide the Hoops’ youngsters to another successful Lowland League campaign alongside juggling UEFA Youth League endeavours.

Making a fine start, Celtic B are in title contention and the Bhoys won their opening UEFA Youth League game against Slovan Bratislava, so there is plenty to be positive about at underage level.

With the young Hoops in action last night, let’s see how they got on as they prepare for a busy run of fixtures.

Daniel Cummings front and centre in Celtic B triumph

Celtic B took on Gretna 2008 last night at the Albert Bartlett Stadium as they looked to sustain their early title challenge, and it is fair to say they stepped up to the mark for the occasion.

Free-scoring striker Daniel Cummings netted a brace, taking his tally to 14 for the season. Meanwhile, Aiden Haddow also got himself on the scoresheet alongside an own goal, which saw the Bhoys run out convincing 4-0 winners.

Back to winning ways after four matches without a victory, Celtic B will now turn their focus to facing Caledonian Braves on Saturday before their latest instalment of European football against Atalanta next midweek.

Despite being scheduled to travel to Heart of Midlothian two days after the tie, that match has now been scheduled for the end of the month.

Celtic B continue their positive start to the season

With Celtic B sitting three points off top behind Caledonian Braves and East Kilbride, there is real potential for the Bhoys to achieve something special this term under Stephen McManus.

While the main point of competing in men’s football centres around development, it is nice to see that the relentless winning mentality at the club extends further down the food chain.

Ultimately, the Celtic Academy will have a role to play in bringing prodigious talent through the ranks, and youngsters impressing on the pitch helps bolster their visibility.

Hopefully, the young Hoops can continue to build on their winning momentum after a convincing victory on Wednesday night.
