Saturday Owen Moffat goal really caught the eye of Celtic supporters

Owen Moffat is having a good summer at Celtic, isn’t he?

The Lennoxtown youngster probably wasn’t very well known amongst supporters this time six months ago.

He’s been on the books for ages at the Bhoys but with a lack of structured football and no real coverage of our youth sides, it was no great sin not to know of the young attacker.

Now, after a stint with Ange Postecoglou’s first team in Wales and a B Team goal against East Kilbride, he’s becoming a recognisable name.

His effort in the Lowland League yesterday was a beauty.

A surging run and one-two, before a composed, clinical finish, marked him out as a talent operating at a level above some of his peers.

If you missed it, you can watch it on the official Celtic B Twitter account.

Some are now even clamouring for him to become more involved with the first team.

Given he was substituted off at the hour mark on Saturday, there’s every chance he has been earmarked for a trip to Denmark this week.

Even if he doesn’t play, just being included alongside James Forrest, Ryan Christie and Liel Abada as Celtic’s potential wide options would be a brilliant experience for him.

Still just 19, there’s plenty of time for the winger to make his mark, but putting a spotlight on him could be what’s needed to kick his career into a new gear.

These supporters are certainly keen, taking to Twitter this weekend to share their thoughts on Moffat’s goal and his potential…
