The club have released highlights of Celtic B’s impressive comeback away to Scottish League Two side Albion Rovers on Tuesday night.
The Celtic youths, coached by Darren O’Dea and Stephen McManus, moved into the next round of the SPFL Trust Trophy with a 3-2 win, despite trailing by two goals in the early stages of the match.
Goals from Rocco Vata, Bosun Lawal and Owen Moffat pushed the team to victory, with Vata’s solo effort the pick of the bunch, as you can see via the highlights at this link or embedded below.
The Republic of Ireland youth international was also involved in the build-up to Moffat’s winner, showcasing he is becoming an increasingly important part of the B set-up.
Vata got the opportunity to impress Ange Postecoglou during the pre-season trip to Austria and even scored in the first friendly of the summer.
Highlights like these will only increase his profile with supporters and the coaching staff as he looks to make a sustained breakthrough to the first-team squad over the next 12 to 18 months.
Son of 1990s hero Rudi, Rocco has been part of the club’s academy sides since he was seven years old and is showing solid progress for club and country.
His contract runs until 2024, so he has plenty of time to make an impression and can hopefully find form in the Lowland League this season.
Celtic now face Livingston B in the next round of the SPFL Trust Trophy, but league action is on the agenda next with the long trip to Gretna 2008 this weekend.
