Celtic have endured some torrid nights in the Champions League over the last decade or so.
The 2017/18 campaign included a couple of thrashings off Barcelona and PSG, while Atletico Madrid taught Celtic a lesson in 2023 with a 6-0 thumping.
But amid those lows are some truly brilliant highs and that’s what we’ll be focusing on below. There really isn’t too much better than a convincing win at European football’s top table.
Celtic haven’t won a huge number of Champions League games but there are some which will live long in the memory.
So here, 67 Hail Hail pick out Celtic’s biggest wins of all-time on the Champions League stage which stretches right back to 2003 under Martin O’Neill and up to Brendan Rodgers’ second spell.
Celtic’s biggest Champions League wins ever

3 – Celtic 2-0 Lyon (September 2003)
Yes, we’re starting with a two-goal margin of victory! Celtic’s joint-third biggest Champions League win of all-time came against French giants Lyon in the 2003/04 group stage.
Martin O’Neill’s side found their way to victory via goals from the late Liam Miller and deadly striker Chris Sutton. Henrik Larsson assisted both goals under the lights at Celtic Park.

3 – Celtic 2-0 Villarreal (December 2008)
The Hoops ended their underwhelming 2008/09 group stage campaign with a flourish as Aiden McGeady lit up Parkhead to help secure a 2-0 victory over Spanish charges Villarreal.
McGeady scored the all-important second goal with Shaun Maloney netting the first for Gordon Strachan’s men.

3 – Celtic 3-1 Anderlecht (November 2003)
Celtic won twice and drew once across their 2003/04 Champions League group stage to collect seven points – but it was only enough to drop down into the UEFA Cup.
One of the victories was against Belgian giants Anderlecht with Liam Miller also scoring in this one. Larsson and Sutton grabbed the other goals on a fine night for the Bhoys.

3 – Celtic 3-1 RB Leipzig (November 2024)
One of Celtic’s greatest ever performances on UEFA’s grandest stage, the Hoops blew the Bundesliga side away after falling a goal behind.
Nicolas Kuhn was outstanding on the night as his brace and Reo Hatate’s close-range finish gave Paradise a night to remember.

2 – Celtic 3-0 Benfica (October 2006)
Celtic’s joint-second biggest Champions League win ever came against Benfica and what an impressive performance it was against stellar opposition.
During Kenny Miller’s only season as a Celtic player, the striker scored a brace on the wet and blustery night with Stephen Pearson adding to the tally in the 90th minute.
The Hoops won all of their group stage home games that season and progressed to the last 16 against AC Milan.

2 – Anderlecht 0-3 Celtic (September 2017)
In what was a Champions League campaign to forget, Celtic did produce one commendable highlight in Belgium.
Anderlecht away came on matchday two after the Hoops had lost 5-0 to PSG at Parkhead, so this 3-0 triumph on the road was an impressive response.
Leigh Griffiths, Paddy Roberts and Scott Sinclair led the reigning ‘Invincible Treble’ winners to victory, but remains the last Champions League win away from home for the Bhoys.

1 – Celtic 5-1 Slovan Bratislava (September 2024)
And we arrive at the recent thumping of Slovan Bratislava, Celtic’s biggest ever win in the Champions League proper.
There were five different scorers on the night as Liam Scales, Kyogo, Arne Engels, Daizen Maeda and Adam Idah fired Celtic to a brilliant win.
This happened to be Celtic’s first-ever Champions League league phase match after the competition was completely revamped for the 2024/25 season onwards.
