Celtic fans simply want frustrating Eddie Howe saga over and done with

The Eddie Howe to Celtic saga really has gone on long enough, and it’s clear the fans are beginning to feel it too.

The latest news surrounding Howe is positive of course. The Scottish Daily Mail [print edition, 28/04, page 83] reported today that the Englishman is piecing together his coaching staff for his Parkhead switch.

This was the first update Celtic fans had been given for 20 days when his agent came out and denied he was close to joining anyone [Daily Mail]. We were even informed about a reported agreement in principle as far back as April 2nd [Scottish Sun].

It’s become tiresome and frustrating at the same time. So much so that it’s easy to forget that it’s still only April. Celtic haven’t hired a manager this long before a new season in their modern history.

So it’s no surprise that the Howe move is taking such a long time. It’s not like us to appoint a new manager whilst an interim boss is still carrying out his duties too. John Kennedy has until the end of the season to take control of the ship. After that, however, things need to move quickly.

Celtic fans want Eddie Howe announcement ASAP; saga has been long-running

The first genuine report regarding Howe to Celtic came all the way back in January. It was the Sun who claimed that the Hoops wanted Howe, even back when Neil Lennon was still in charge.

Since then, there’s been an incredible demand from Hoops fans to get an agreement done and sort the club out for next season under the ex-Bournemouth man’s guidance.

Of course, just because Howe hasn’t officially been announced, it doesn’t mean that work isn’t in place. In fact, on the contrary if he’s currently sorting out his backroom team for the Parkhead gig.

There’s also nothing to suggest that he won’t be eyeing up potential transfer targets either. And there’s no reason for him not to be studying Celtic himself externally as he takes a look at our current squad.

If it’s more or less set in stone that Howe will take over, the work should already have started. But, of course, we’ll find out whether that’s truly the case after it’s been made official and he’s had time to put his own stamp on things.

In any case, fans want this over and done with. And here, we take a look at how they responded to the latest update regarding Howe to Celtic:

In other news, a Celtic-linked international defender who was reportedly desperate for a Parkhead move is said to be in talks elsewhere.
