We will keep this page updated until the end of each confederation’s qualifying campaign, with all nations to be finalised by next March.

Canada

Canada qualified as a co-host nation, which guarantees Johnston another chance to impress at a World Cup, just as he did in 2022 when he caught the eye of Ange Postecoglou.

USA

The USMNT also qualified as co-hosts of next summer’s tournament, and Celtic defenders Carter-Vickers and Trusty will be vying for selection.

South Korea

South Korea will play at their 11th consecutive World Cup after finishing top of Group B of Asian Football Confederation (AFC) qualifying.

Yang isn’t a regular for the national team, but does have six caps to his name.

Japan

Just as South Korea topped Group B of AFC qualifying, Japan finished first in Group C. They qualified for the World Cup with three games to spare.

Maeda and Hatate have the strongest chance of competing at the tournament among Celtic’s Japanese contingent.

It’s unlikely Yamada and Inamura will force their way into contention, even though the former made his debut for Japan in the summer.

Tunisia

Tunisia were the second team from Africa to qualify for the World Cup after Morocco.

Tounekti is in good form for Celtic and keeping that up across the season will give him a magnificent opportunity to play at the global showpiece.

Uruguay

Uruguay are one of the latest teams to reach the World Cup having done so in September after a 3-0 win over Peru.

Former Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa is in charge, but will he call up his namesake Saracchi for the tournament next summer? The Celtic star’s loan spell in Glasgow will be critical in deciding that outcome.

Scotland

Scotland qualified for the World Cup in dramatic fashion after beating Denmark in a winner-takes-all clash.

Kieran Tierney was instrumental in that and scored in the 4-2 win to ensure that the Tartan Army would be playing at their first World Cup since 1990.

Anthony Ralston featured heavily throughout the qualifiers and will no doubt be called upon by Steve Clarke once again.

Belgium

Although he has lost his place in the Belgium national team, Arne Engels still has a chance of going to the World Cup after the Red Devils qualified with five wins and three draws from their eight qualifiers.

Engels has come back into the fold of late, so a strong run of form between now and the end of the season will potentially see him recalled.
