Celtic are seriously picking up pace with their rebuild as several problem areas continue to be tackled.
The Hoops have already brought in Osaze Urhoghide from Sheffield Wednesday. He can either be utilised as a right-back or centre-back. But there’s another piece of news that’s caught the Celtic fans’ attention earlier today.
The Bhoys have been linked with a move for Rubin Kazan centre-back Carl Starfelt [Fabrizio Romano]. The three-time capped Swedish international is said to be the subject of a potential £4m move from the Hoops [Sport Expressen].
Starfelt was Rubin Kazan’s most reliable player last season. He played more minutes than anyone else at the club with 2592 to his name [WhoScored].
The Swede has yet to win a medal or take part in European football proper. However, he’s a strong aerial combatant and appears to have thrived in Russia over the past 12 months.
Dom McKay and Ange Postecoglou work continues with Celtic reportedly keen on Carl Starfelt
What’s even more exciting for Celtic supporters is the timing of this. It comes not long after Croatian media stated the Hoops were close to signing Mario Vuskovic [Sportske Novosti]. From the outside, it looks as though real progress is finally being made, and early in the window too.
For too long have we left key positions unstrengthened well into the window. Too often have we watched as Kris Ajer and Nir Bitton have operated in unfamiliar positions. This summer, as things stand, we would be resorting to playing an unproven youth player alongside Bitton should Ajer depart.

Bringing in Starfelt along with Vuskovic would be massive progress from the football club. Not just in strengthening before the UCL qualifier with Midtjylland, but in reconnecting with supporters. If McKay pulls off a deal for Starfelt, Vuskovic, or both, it’ll go along way to gaining more trust from their fanbase.
It’ll be a sign that we’re working differently for a change. That this new regime of McKay and Postecoglou can get things done in quick and efficient fashion.
And the latest on Starfelt has certainly prompted a mostly positive response from the Hoops faithful

In other news, Karamoko Dembele will never have a better chance to make his mark at Celtic than now.
