The fallout from the recent Celtic clash against Rangers at Celtic Park has rumbled on for quite a while now.
Whether that’s a reflection of the winter break, or the incidents involving Neil Lennon’s and Steven Gerrard’s sides, is up for debate.
Subsequent decisions certainly haven’t helped cool tensions, with the Scottish FA taking a much-criticised decision to ban Ryan Christie for ‘violent conduct’ after being adjudged to grab Alfredo Morelos by the genitals.
Predictably Ibrox boss Gerrard was also asked about it all and had this to say to Sky Sports, speaking on Wednesday from Dubai: “I think the Ryan Christie situation is for Neil Lennon to talk about and for Celtic to deal with.
“In terms of the consistency across the board with the referees and getting cited, I think all the managers are going to ask for consistency. Especially when they’re on the wrong side of it.
“Prior to that, we’ve had decisions that haven’t gone our way. A cup final went against us because of a decision, we never got a penalty up at Aberdeen. You can cry wolf and get the violin out if you want but the reality is, you have to get on with it.”
Celtic supporters have found these comments particularly amusing given the amount of, and length of, statements coming out of Rangers in recent years with regards to the disciplinary process in Scotland.
One particular outburst came in November 2018 when the club claimed there was ‘underlying issue’ with regards to referee Willie Collum’s officiating, in a rather melodramatic statement.
After one of Gerrard’s first matches as Rangers boss, he claimed decisions had been going against the club for years (The Herald), hardly the sign of someone getting on with it or not pulling out the violin.
These supporters have taken to Twitter today to share their thoughts on it all…
Is he for real .
All he does is moan about referees.

A bit rich coming from him the amount of times he’s criticised referees this season.

This is the guy who Slammed Scottish Referees and Officials after his FIRST competitive match as a Manager. #Hypocrisy

Says the guy who does it after every game his team drops points in when he is not blaming his players. Hilarious.

Says the one who has complained nearly every mistake made that goes against him and he says no point getting the violin out.

That’s ironic coming from him. Hes been harping on about decisions all season.
