67 Hail Hail writers predict if Wilfried Nancy can win his first game as Celtic manager in Premier Sports Cup final

The first domestic trophy of the season is on the line this weekend as Celtic take on St Mirren.

Wilfried Nancy has already set an unwanted record of becoming the first Hoops manager to lose his first two games in charge, and will be keen to avoid going three-in-a-row.

They face stern opposition in St Mirren, who have proved to be difficult to beat in both of their meetings with Celtic this season.

There may also be a surprise or two as Nancy hinted at changing his starting XI after sticking with the same players in his first two games.

Winning the Premier Sports Cup final would be a huge morale boost, and the perfect chance to kickstart his career. So, with that, here are 67 Hail Hail’s predictions for Sunday’s clash.

Cup finals are huge in their own right, but this one feels even more important.

Given the start Nancy has had, the Frenchman needs this. The players do too as the tide is beginning to turn as fans run out of patience with their lacklustre performances.

Sometimes it doesn’t matter how you play, getting a win on the board is all you need to kickstart some momentum.

St Mirren will make it scrappy but I believe Celtic have enough in the tank to retain the trophy.

Prediction: Celtic 2-1 St Mirren

With pressure on Nancy mounting, I expect a totally different performance and for the Celtic team to come out swinging.

Granted, there is nothing to suggest that will happen based on the last two performances, but with more time with his players, the manager should hopefully get it right.

It won’t be easy but Celtic to win by the odd goal.

Prediction: Celtic 2-1 St Mirren

Name your Celtic front three for Celtic’s cup final against St Mirren…

This is going to be more nervy than it should be, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it goes to extra-time.

But Celtic need to get that first goal or equalising goal, then we will see some confidence flow.

I’ll go 2-1 AET, with Luke McCowan getting the winner.

Prediction: Celtic 2-1 St Mirren

Martin Crawford

As scary as Thursday was, this will be a completely different game.

Nancy has priceless Hampden experience in his squad. He will lean into that, and the team will learn from their last performance against St Mirren. Kelechi Iheanacho will grab a brace and Celtic will get the win.

Prediction: Celtic 2-0 St Mirren
