Aberdeen have announced that they have arranged a pitch inspection for tonight’s clash with Celtic.
The game is scheduled to go ahead at 8PM, but this late announcement has thrown it into doubt.
Martin O’Neill and his team have been preparing for the game as normal, with no indication of a postponement until now.
However, ‘prolonged rain’ overnight has made the pitch ‘heavy’, with the Pittodrie club now admitting that they are concerned about the surface.
They have released a statement giving further details, with the inspection to go ahead at 4PM.

Pitch inspection Aberdeen vs Celtic gets late pitch inspection
Games here and there have been postponed in Scotland over recent years, mostly due to frozen pitches in the cold weather.
However, a potentially waterlogged pitch would be the cause this time around.

Aberdeen took to their official social media channels to confirm the inspection in a statement.
They said: “Please be aware Aberdeen FC contacted the SPFL earlier this afternoon to arrange a pitch inspection ahead of this evening’s William Hill Premiership game between Aberdeen and Celtic.
“Prolonged rain over the last few weeks has made the pitch heavy. The groundstaff have been working tirelessly to get it ready but there is an area of the surface at the Merkland end that is causing concern.
“A referee will inspect the pitch at 4.00pm and we will update supporters as soon as a decision has been made.”
Celtic have also released a statement on the inspection, with thousands of fans set to travel north for the fixture ahead of kick-off.
A postponement would be the last thing that Celtic need, with such a hectic fixture schedule ahead in the Scottish Premiership and other competition.
