Adam Idah has Celtic fans all saying the same thing after display vs Aberdeen

One of Celtic’s main recruitment tasks during the January transfer window was to bring in a striker.

Second choice forward Oh Hyeon-gyu is currently on international duty with South Korea at the Asian Cup and has been for the last few weeks.

Out-of-form Kyogo has been our only fit and available striker recently so Brendan Rodgers simply had to deliver fresh blood into the attacking department at Parkhead, which he did on transfer deadline day.

Adam Idah was signed on loan from EFL Championship outfit Norwich City and while Kyogo now has a bit of back-up, Celtic fans weren’t too sure about the Irishman’s arrival.

Idah hasn’t been a regular starter for the Canaries this season and isn’t the most prolific in front of goal. The Republic of Ireland international has plenty of experience at just 22 but boasts just 17 goals in 115 games for Norwich [Transfermarkt].

Rodgers aimed to ease the disquiet amongst Celtic fans surrounding Idah, with the Northern Irishman on Friday labelling him ‘genuine quality’ and similar to a young Moussa Dembele.

He has a long way to go to reach the Frenchman’s impact at Parkhead but supporters, after watching Idah’s substitute appearance against Aberdeen on Saturday, can be encouraged with the loanee’s very early inroads at Celtic.

When Adam Idah was introduced with 31 minutes of the game at Pittodrie to go, Celtic were toiling and were in need of a spark in attack.

Bojan Miovski had the Dons 1-0 up at this point despite a dominant Hoops performance, albeit the team were bang average in their play.

Idah came on alongside fellow January signing Nicolas Kuhn and it’s safe to say both made an instant impact. The German winger equalised with a deflected strike and it was Idah who assisted him with a nice lay-off.

The Irishman went on to have a promising display and Celtic fans expressed their admiration of his sub performance on X after the game unfortunately finished 1-1.
