Adam Montgomery got another unexpected opportunity to impress in a Celtic shirt today, coming off the bench to replace the injured Greg Taylor.
Taylor went down with a shoulder injury early in the second half, in a similar manner to the AZ Alkmaar second leg in the Netherlands.
That seems to be a recurring issue for the left-back, which is a bit of a worry.

However, in Montgomery, it seems we have a more than capable deputy. In fact, there are now plenty of supporters calling for the Scotland U21 international to get a regular stint in the team at left-back.
That could be a necessity given the Taylor injury, but should Montgomery be there on merit anyway?
He’s comfortable and composed on the ball, his drive and work ethic is up there. Importantly, he’s also got that bit of craft in the final third that can create openings and opportunities.
I certainly don’t think he’d look out of place if given a regular game for the Bhoys.
At the moment, it certainly feels like he’s being protected. And that may well be the correct strategy.
However, I’d love to see Ange Postecoglou let him fly a bit so we can see what he can do consistently. We don’t want to be in a situation where we are stifling his potential.
Interesting decisions ahead in the left-back position.
