Celtic fans were left delighted by the impact of Albian Ajeti after he netted the Bhoys’ winner in a Scottish Premiership match against Dundee United this evening.

With time running out and Celtic looking bereft of ideas, the determination of the Swiss international kept the ball in play in the box, before he followed up to fire the ball past Benjamin Siegrist.

His first Celtic goal was enough to secure a 1-0 victory and will be a massive boost to his chances of more first-team action in the coming days and weeks.

There will now likely be a clamouring for the player to start in a two-striker formation alongside Odsonne Edouard.

It’s an effort that bailed the champions out of a difficult encounter at Tannadice.

Newly promoted Dundee United were resolute for much of the 90 minutes, defending solidly.

There’s no doubt about it, Celtic need to improve.

However, we can bank today’s three points and put the performance down to early-season problems. These players are far better than what they showed on the road today.

Lennon will be delighted they have another match under their belts, improving their fitness and sharpness.

The action doesn’t get any easier over the coming week with a difficult match against Hungarian champions Ferencvaros taking place at Celtic Park on Wednesday night.

For now though we can celebrate Ajeti’s impact and these supporters took to Twitter tonight to share their thoughts on his goal…
