Ange Postecoglou always wanted to use the depth of his squad tonight as Celtic prepare for a heavy run of fixtures in multiple competitions.

The manager made five changes to his line-up tonight from the Hibernian game on Monday night. Players such as Anthony Ralston, Liam Scales and Stephen Welsh all came into the team.

Meanwhile, Yosuke Ideguchi made his first start for the club and Giorgos Giakoumakis has been given a big chance in attack.

Speaking to Premier Sports before kick-off, Postecoglou said in Alloa: “I think it’s important for us to rotate. We’ve made some additions to the squad so we can have a strong squad but that will only work if we give some guys game time.

“It’s a good 90 minutes for those who need it and we need them ready. It’s a good challenge for them today.”

Meanwhile, Postecoglou has provided an update on when we might see Christopher Jullien after the Frenchman return to the Celtic squad today for the first time in over a year.

The Bhoys boss said: “He’s trained well. Since we’ve got back from the break he hasn’t missed a session. He’s been training well with the guys. He’s available. We just need to pick our time on when we re-introduce him – it might be today, or on Wednesday or the game after.

“For him, it’s another step forward because he’s involved in a matchday and hopefully that’s the beginning.”

So far, the rotation in the team hasn’t knocked Celtic off of the path to victory. Giakoumakis scored early on with a fine first-time finish from a Scales cross, while Ideguchi looks at home in the midfield.

Two goals ahead at the interval, hopefully the Bhoys can knock in another one or two in the second half and make this even more comfortable.
